Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me… Matthew 11:29
Inner Invincibility from My Utmost for His Highest, April 14:

“... How petty our complaining is! Our Lord begins to bring us to the point where we can have fellowship with Him, only to hear us moan and groan, saying, “Oh Lord, just let me be like other people!” Jesus is asking us to get beside Him and take one end of the yoke, so that we can pull together. That’s why Jesus says to us, “My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:30)...”

I forgot to mention in a previous post that on March 25, Kathie and I, along with her care facility residents, visited PetCo Park, Home of the Padres Baseball Team. We rolled around the entire park and learned the inner workings of the building and the preparations for Opening Day. I have learned so much participating with Kathie on these “field trips.” I have learned how to push a wheelchair through crosswalks, around obstacles and over bumpy roads. Although the staff is with us, I am in charge of her care; this time spent with her is truly a blessing. Tomorrow, Kathie and I, along with her care facility are headed to Sea World. May the sights and sounds be a benefit to all the residents.

In the last two weeks, I have been in contact with Kathie’s ENT Surgeon as we prepare for the closing of her stoma though exams, scans and discussions. I am encouraged and respectfully fearful of this procedure, the decisions I make affect her breathing and comfort. It has taken a couple of years and time spent convincing doctors but I believe we are narrowing in on a procedure that will allow her to breathe through her mouth and nose again… allowing her to have a heightened sense of smell also. Please pray for the surgeon’s hand and my direction as we complete this task hopefully next week.

“. . . Where do the saints get their joy? If we did not know some Christians well, we might think from just observing them that they have no burdens at all to bear. But we must lift the veil from our eyes. The fact that the peace, light, and joy of God is in them is proof that a burden is there as well… No power on earth or in hell can conquer the Spirit of God living within the human spirit; it creates an inner invincibility.”

As Kathie and I were waiting for the other residents outside the downtown ballpark, a man who had been watching us moved closer. On our fieldtrips, I usually hover over her like a mother over a newborn child, I didn’t want to make eye contact and besides, I didn’t want Kathie exposed to the smoke from his cigarette. When I finally looked at him, he simply said, “You are a good man.” I smiled and said, “thank you,” recognizing that this man saw Christ’s strength displayed.

“The joy of the Lord is our strength” (Nehemiah 8:10),

  1. Thank you for taking the time to share with all of us. It's the one small way I can still feel connected to Kathie.
