Yesterday Kathie and I went on a fieldtrip to Seaport Village, beautiful day for a stroll through the grounds next to San Diego Bay. I have been working on a new manual wheelchair for her since last August, it arrived Wednesday and we were able to take it for a test drive. It is emerald green, custom fitted and very impressive, we will have some minor adjustments made and she will be set.

Today she has the stitches removed from her throat surgery last week; the Care Meridian Staff are very impressed with the sounds she is making. I found a knot in her neck so as I was massaging, she started making a primal “ehh” sounds like, “yea, that’s the spot.” At this point, I am pleased with her progress, the decision to have surgery and what I am hearing from Kath.

When I read past entries or I share about the new wheelchair or sounds Kathie is making I find the whole thing odd. These updates are not a “normal” conversation and not something I would expect to see on Facebook but this blog does allow me to write to you, sharing what continues to happen, while not intruding into other friend’s lives.

We are not living in a normal situation and we do appreciate your prayers for our daily walk (or stroll).

  1. Green eyes, green wheelchair. I know Kathie approves of the choice, Dave.

  3. Wow, Dave + Kathie!!! I hadn't checked in for a few weeks and I am sooooo THRILLED to hear all this news on the surgery, the wheelchair, the normal life!!!! The daughter approaching senior yr of h.s., the trip to Boston!! So much happening...!
I just did a very late nite helping our 11 yr old daughter with end of year projects... and our 14 yr old son is entering h.s. in the fall... and the 4 yr old is hoping to enter kindergarten... busy times!
And still driving to see Jim as much as possible. My parents just saw him 2 days ago. I'm hoping to go Sunday. It's real hot here, and I hope it cools enough to get him out of the nursing home a bit.
We still hope to move Jim closer to us.
let's keep praying for one another dear friends!
    God Bless, Laura in Philly
