Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice. Philippians 4:4.

Busy last weekend, we hosted a large family dinner then a memorial celebration lunch for our Grandfather culminating in the marriage of my niece on Saturday afternoon. Busy, exhausting, joyful celebrations.

For the last two weeks Kathie and I along with her caregivers have been dealing with a bacterial infection on her hip. Ultrasound, culture test and an MRI have given the doctors direction on her treatment. Because of her trach reversal, she is able to vocalize pain which helps us respond quickly to her discomfort. Last night I sat with her and while leaving I expressed my concern to the night nurse, I called later and then checked in at 4am with her nurse, she was sleeping soundly. I would ask you to pray for her healing of the infection and comfort, also that we are acutely aware of her discomfort.

I am very pleased with her caregivers. I sent flowers to the Staff at Care Meridian and also to Gateway Gardens where Grandpa was cared for. Of course, as my Valentine, Katherine will receive a bouquet of roses. I let her know last night how beautiful she is and that I love her.

"... Even when you cannot feel any joy... continue to rejoice and "consider it pure joy" (James 1:2). Do you believe that your heavenly Father will let you carry the banner of His victory and joy to the very front of the battle, only to calmly withdraw to see you captured or beaten back by the enemy? Never! ... Let us sing even when we do not feel like it." February 14, Streams in the Desert.

Choosing joy,
Dave

  1. Dave, today's Streams in the Desert 1 (February 16) is when we really stopped in the middle of our readings and spoke of you, and how you have been such a great example of faith for us. "Let us quietly wait and patiently endure the will of the Lord till He cometh." and, "It is not hard for the Lord to turn the night into day. He that sends the clouds can as easily clear the skies. Let us be of good cheer. It is better farther on. Let us sing Hallelujah by anticipation. (Spurgeon)
You are living proof of God's love. Thank you so much for your faith and courage and your willingness to demonstrate that you are completely dependent on our Lord for ALL things....
    Love, Jean and Otis
