“The Lord imparts to me the underlying strength of character that gives me the necessary energy and decision-making ability to live my life. He strengthens me “with power through his Spirit in [my] inner being.” (Eph. 3:16). And the strength He gives is continuous, for He is the source of power I cannot exhaust.” Streams in the Desert, June 27.

The last month and a half has been very busy! I started thinking through my phrase, “the volume of my life has been turned up… to the point of distortion.”

Hannah had a wonderful trip to the East Coast; she is ready to visit New York City tomorrow or whenever I book her a flight. She is growing up, when I asked her about being homesick, she said, “no, I missed you but I wasn’t homesick.” Madison and I made a visit to SFSU and spent a good time talking about her plans and future in May.

Lately Kathie seems to be observing what goes on around her, especially on her right side. I was startled to have her turn her head quickly when I approached her to give her a kiss. A Staff member asked if Kathie had a temper before the accident because when she wakes Kathie at 5:30am, Kathie makes a deep blowing sound and furrows her eyebrows. I responded, “Kathie never likes waking up early and I tried never, ever to wake her that early!” A few weeks ago, I had a friend cut Kathie’s hair and it turned out beautifully. Kathie has a whirlpool bath every other evening and I bathe her two to three times a week. We went to the Del Mar Fair two days ago; I bought her a new wide brimmed hat and she was alert as we walked through the booths. I positioned her wheelchair as we went through the photography exhibit; all the pictures were on her right side.

In the morning of June 13th, Hannah promoted from Middle School into High School, she made the JV Cheer Squad and has already begun practices. That evening at 6, Madison graduated from High School. Emotions of joy and the sadness mixed with mental pictures of their first days of school, and of course, missing Kathie there with us. We cheered and celebrated, thanking God for these milestones completed. A week later, the three of us attended Orientation at SFSU, I blinked and my high school senior was showing me her class schedule and a dorm move-in date of August 17!

You no long have to wonder why I haven’t written, the volume has reduced, I’m sleeping better and Monday I’ll run in the 10k that I’ve been training for.

Last night, after Kathie’s bath, I kissed her good-night and told her she looked beautiful.

It was very good to meet your beautiful girls and visit with you at the Staffords. Thanks for sharing the new website. I have it bookmarked and will check it often. It reminds me to continue to pray for all of you.
