JUNE 13, 2012
Kathie is a blonde again. Last night I assisted the stylist in the hair coloring process, I had no idea what that entailed. Tuesday was Kathie's favorite day of the year, the end of school and the beginning of summer break. How better to celebrate.
Hannah finished her Freshman year and has a two week break before starting Varsity Cheer practice. She is heading to Puerto Rico for a vacation this summer with her friend's family. Madison is teaching gymnastics this summer at her old gym. I can picture her in a body-cast and wheelchair after the accident, she and I recognize the healing she received. It was made most evident when five years after the accident she did a round-off back handspring tuck rotating at the height above her coach's head.
Monday I attended a memorial service for a friend who was two years younger than I am. Cancer took him way too early, our daughters are almost the same ages and I was very sad. Seeing friends who gathered at the service was a joy and we laughed as we shared stories of the past. I am thankful for such friendships that have helped shape my life. Inevitably, the topic turns to our family since the accident, as my friends have followed my family. I do pray that our lives reflect Christ and not just a tragedy, our friends have been "prayer warriors" for almost seven years and we are blessed.
