Jesus Calling, January 6 “I am able to do far beyond all
that you ask or imagine. Come to me with positive expectations, knowing that
there is no limit to what I can accomplish. Ask My Spirit to control your mind,
so that you can think great thoughts of Me. Do not be discouraged by the fact
that many of your prayers are yet unanswered. Time is a trainer, teaching you
to wait upon Me, to trust Me in the dark. The more extreme your circumstances,
the more likely you are to see My Power and Glory at work in the situation.
Instead of letting difficulties draw you into worrying, try to view them as
setting the scene for My glorious intervention. Keep your mind wide open to all
that I am doing in your life.”
I have shared with friends who have lost loved one that the
holiday time is difficult. I mark Halloween to New Year’s Day as the holiday
time. “Choose Joy” became my motto during the first Christmas without Kathie and
it continues as we just completed our 10th Christmas since our
Accident. While we are happy and enjoy the fun of the holidays, the Joy of the
holidays is what allows me to ward of discouragement. I offer that to my
Christian and non-Christian friends alike.
Unfortunately Kathie had about 3 days of pain caused by a
lapse in medication. A doctor, a scheduling secretary, a facility nurse and an
advocate (me) all missed our reminders to have the medication refilled. We
thought she might have had a minor infection which caused us to look at blood
work and antibiotics. I was very frustrated that I missed this and very
relieved at the quick response to remedy the situation, and bring her back to a
comfortable position.
In 2014 I drove 10,055 miles to care for Kathie. I am
blessed to be able to still be by her side 5-6 nights a week and she came home
for visits more than previous years. Her health is good, her masseuse visits
weekly and she has many caring staff members around her (who were working hard
to relieve her pain).
On New Year’s Eve I sat with her and kissed her goodnight. It
is hard to read the words and believe that God watches over Kathie, “The more
extreme your circumstances, the more likely you are to see My Power and Glory
at work in the situation,” but we continue in His care.
Blessings in the New Year,
Dave & Kathie
Thank you for your continual updates on Kathie. You are always making certain that she is comfortable.
