We completed Kathie's day-surgery on January 30. Our day started very early and each part of the process went well, from transportation to Coronado Hospital, to surgery, to recovery she was back in Escondido by 12:30pm the same day and resting comfortably. In the days that followed, she seemed to have little surgical pain and no ill effect from the anesthesia, I am thankful. While we were at Coronado Hospital, I visited Staff and Kathie's roommate from years ago. We spent 4 years in Coronado and I always make it a point to say thank you for the care that Kathie received.

On January 21, we traveled to the SD Safari Park on an outing and had wonderful weather. The hills of the Park gave me a workout as I pushed her wheelchair. She seemed content to look around, favoring her right side, and even watched me as I spoke to her.

January 11 was a home visit for Kathie. Along with a hairdresser, we cut and colored Kathie's hair at home, then used the whirlpool to wash her hair. This by far was the most difficult day I have had with Kathie at home. Every task seemed to be a struggle, much like taking care of an infant, I sat back at one point and said to her, "wow, I'm glad we are done with that." As I cleaned up, I moved Kathie to our patio and she fell asleep in the warm breeze. Watching her relaxed, made the struggles of the visit well worth it, I am thankful to be able to have Kathie at home, even for just a visit.

Next week we will visit Seaport Village and see the sights,
Dave & Kathie
